PathwaysBC

Since 2022, the Breastfeeding Systems Change Project has hired physicians and other health care providers to enhance the existing breastfeeding information on PathwaysBC. This has involved creating a Breastfeeding Care Pathway and updating and adding new evidence-informed breastfeeding topics. Examples of breastfeeding topics now on Pathways include: breastfeeding low birth weight and premature babies; breastfeeding an adopted baby; use of marijuana, alcohol and other substances; and special populations including LGBT2Q+ and anyone inducing lactation.
Physician, midwives and nurse practitioners from across BC can access Pathways for the more than 45 health topics, which now includes breastfeeding.
Thank you to Tiffany Holdsworth-Taylor, RM, IBCLC, who organized the initial Pathways work. Virginia Clark, MD, IBCLC, is now the main physician lead on the breastfeeding Pathways project and along with Karen Graham, Project Coordinator, helps identify topics and research evidence-informed topics.
